Spring 2026 Soil Pit Day

8:45 AM – 1:00 PM
Join us for a fun day of soil pit activities in Lebanon with OSSS!
We will focus on honing fundamental soil pit assessment skills like hand-texturing, Munsell coloring, and horizon designations in two pits along a catena; one in a lowland valley flat, and another in a forested upland.
Purchase some OSSS merch to support our events and Scholarship Fund, put your texturing skills to the test, and hang out with your local soil nerds!

Agenda:
- 8:45 am: Meet at Crop Science parking lot (3050 SW Campus Way Corvallis, OR 97331)
- Swag for sale
- Check-in briefing
- Share directions
- Organize carpool
- 9:15am: Leave Crop Science lot and head to Keller property in Lebanon (address provided after registration)
- 10:00am: Arrive at the Kellers’ property
- Topics to Discuss: Pam Keller’s document with background information of soil and geomorphic setting
